Baseball Recap: Goldwater's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Goldwater came into Friday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Agua Fria Owls on Friday as they made off with a 15-2 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Connor Heather made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Braeden Evjen and Parker Windom did most of the damage at the plate: Evjen went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Windom went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Evjen has posted since back in February. Alvaro Naranjo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Goldwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .621. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Goldwater's record is now 5-11. As for Agua Fria, they moved to 5-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Goldwater will square off against Marcos de Niza at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Agua Fria, they will be playing at home against Moon Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Owls are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
