Softball Preview: Tullahoma Wildcats vs. Marion County Warriors

The Tullahoma Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Marion County Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tullahoma has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Tullahoma lost 16-6 to Lawrence County. Tullahoma hasn't had much luck with Lawrence County recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Madison Goad was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylee Holt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Marion County was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Grundy County 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Emma McCallie was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. McCallie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Pryor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Marion County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tullahoma, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Tullahoma took their victory against Marion County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tullahoma since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
