Football Recap: Menlo School Comes Up Short

Menlo School fell victim to Los Gatos and their airtight defense on Saturday. They were beaten by the Wildcats 28-0. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Jack Freehill threw for 115 yards on 14 of 24 attempts. Trevor Van Der Pyl was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

Callum Schweitzer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Los Gatos, rushing for 46 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 168 yards and one touchdown. Hayden Benjamin was in the mix too, providing the Wildcats with two scores.

Having lost for the first time this season, Menlo School fell to 7-1. As for Los Gatos, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Menlo School will challenge rival Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Freehill and Kai Imahara. Meanwhile, Los Gatos is set to square off against their familiar foe Menlo-Atherton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
