Basketball Game Preview: Pocomoke Warriors vs. Mardela Warriors

Pocomoke is 8-2 against Mardela since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pocomoke Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Mardela Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Pocomoke knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Mardela likes a good challenge.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Pocomoke turned things around against Polytech on Saturday. They skirted past the Panthers 67-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 183rd in Maryland, while the Panthers are ranked 34th in Delaware).

It was another big night for MICHAEL AMES, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. LAMARQUIS DOUGLAS was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Pocomoke was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mardela suffered their biggest loss since February 27, 2024 on Thursday. 2025 welcomed they with a 62-42 loss courtesy of Decatur. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost eight in a row.

Mardela's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Pocomoke, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Pocomoke against Mardela in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 64-26 win. In that game, Pocomoke amassed a halftime lead of 32-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
