Softball Game Preview: Kofa Kings vs. Liberty Lions

The Kofa Kings are taking a road trip to take on the Liberty Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Kofa didn't have quite enough to beat Cibola and fell 8-6. The Kings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jazmyn Martinez and Kiya Sayre stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Sayre got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Haley Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Liberty came up short against Pinnacle on Thursday and fell 6-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost five in a row.

Violet Mitchell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Calsyn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 9-15-1. As for Kofa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
