Volleyball Recap: McMullen County Gets the Win

McMullen County hadn't done well against Devine recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cowboys had just enough and edged out the Warhorses / Arabians 3-2. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

McMullen County took Devine into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 15-10.

Despite the defeat, Devine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Greeley Malone had 14 digs and two aces. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Malone.

McMullen County's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Devine, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.

Looking ahead, McMullen County will take on Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Devine, they will challenge Floresville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
