Basketball Recap: Providence Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Harding University on Tuesday, Providence came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Porter Ridge Pirates on Friday. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 62-44 to the Pirates when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Porter Ridge was led to victory by Miley Malcolm and Ashanti Taylor. Malcolm went 7-for-11 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points, while Taylor posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Sidney Harris was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Porter Ridge, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence will host Cuthbertson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Porter Ridge, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
