Preview: Pike County Bulldogs vs. Opp Bobcats
Pike County is on a five-game streak of home losses, Opp an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Pike County Bulldogs will take on the Opp Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pike County suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 47-24 defeat at the hands of New Brockton. Pike County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
Meanwhile, Opp scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Daleville with points to spare, taking the game 55-41. That looming 55-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Opp yet this season.
Opp's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cuba Wiggins led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. Wiggins hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Dionna Stoudemire, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Pike County has fallen quite a ways from their 10-4 record last season and are now at 1-10. As for Opp, their victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-15.
Pike County was able to grind out a solid win over Opp in their previous matchup last Friday, winning 39-31. Will Pike County repeat their success, or does Opp have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
