Baseball Game Preview: Fletcher Wildcats vs. Mountain View-Gotebo Tigers

The Fletcher Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Mountain View-Gotebo Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fletcher barely beat Hinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Comets 14-6 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Meanwhile, Mountain View-Gotebo hadn't done well against Apache recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Trigger Trogglin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Luke Brock was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Creed Tontigh was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Fletcher's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View-Gotebo, their record is now 13-11.

Everything went Fletcher's way against Mountain View-Gotebo in their previous matchup back in March, as Fletcher made off with an 8-0 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
