Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dominic Stasio and Michael Johnston Lead Seven Rivers Christian to Victory

Seven Rivers Christian hadn't done well against Redeemer Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Seven Rivers Christian Warriors came out on top against the Redeemer Christian Lions by a score of 54-42. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 62-57 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Leading Seven Rivers Christian to victory were Michael Johnston and Dominic Stasio. Johnston dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Stasio dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Johnston is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Nott, who posted eight points.

Seven Rivers Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Redeemer Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Graidy Hughes dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Permenter, who earned six points and six rebounds.

Seven Rivers Christian's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Redeemer Christian, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Seven Rivers Christian will welcome Academy at the Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redeemer Christian, they will head out to face off against First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
