Preview: Walker Wildcats vs. Parkview Baptist Eagles
Walker has enjoyed the comforts of home their last seven games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Parkview Baptist Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Walker's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Last Saturday, Walker faced Denham Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Walker put the hurt on Denham Springs with a sharp 62-36 victory. Walker might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Walker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arionna Patterson, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was La'Shantae Clay, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals.
Parkview Baptist has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season. They breezed by Capitol on the road to the tune of 63-25. Given Parkview Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Capitol is ranked 204th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walker pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Parkview Baptist, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
Walker took their win against Parkview Baptist in their previous matchup back in December of 2014 by a conclusive 67-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walker since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
