Americas picks up 12th straight win at home

Recap: Americas Trail Blazers vs. Franklin Cougars

The Americas Trail Blazers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 49-38 win over Franklin. This was a revenge matchup for Americas, as the team was forced to settle for a 39-37 loss when these two played two weeks ago.

Leading Americas to victory were JOSH PICHARDO and AIDEN MARQUEZ. PICHARDO scored 12 points, while MARQUEZ scored ten points along with two steals. VINNIE VICENCIO was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Franklin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jazhiel Herrera, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Herrera is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Mu?oz, who scored six points along with four steals.

Americas' win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.

Americas will head out on the road to take on Eastlake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastlake is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Socorro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Socorro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 816th, while Franklin is ranked 186th).
