Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meridian). They blew past the Agape Christian Knights 11-3 on Thursday. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 14-4 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Brynn Gibson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Gibson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Kiara Lane was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lailah Hite, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
The win made it two in a row for Meridian and bumps their season record up to 2-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Agape Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
