Basketball Recap: Soddy Daisy Comes Up Short

Soddy Daisy lost against Red Bank back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Soddy Daisy Trojans took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Bank Lions. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 17-11 in the first quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Red Bank to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Rice, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. That's the most boards Rice has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was DJ Wilbur, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Soddy Daisy's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Red Bank, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Soddy Daisy has already played their next match, a 40-39 defeat against Signal Mountain on the 9th. As for Red Bank, they will challenge Tyner Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
