Baseball Recap: Robinson Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cambridge Christian last Tuesday, Robinson came back down to earth. The Robinson Knights took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

Brady Capps and Jackson Tebbe did some serious damage despite the final result: Capps went 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI, while Tebbe got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Capps a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Boyd, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Robinson's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Wharton, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robinson will challenge Leto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Leto's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wharton, they will welcome Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
