3A Region I District 5 recap September 10, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Ben Davis and Bryce Reeves connected against Brownwood. The connection went for 78 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region I District 5 this season.
Hirschi scaled the state rankings by moving to 481 from 648 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Huskies climbed the ranks as a result of besting Mineral Wells 68-0.
Graham's dynamic duo of Davis and Reeves proved to be unstoppable against the Lions, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davis threw for 369 yards and 3 touchdowns and Reeves had 217 yards receiving. Derek Sides helped Graham's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 84 yards.
The Steers' dynamic duo of Davis and Reeves proved tough for Brownwood to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Davis put up the best numbers in passing as Graham defeated Chuck Howard's team.
Reeves was the best receiver in the league this week as Kenny Davidson's team defeated the Lions.
Reeves had a great week catching the football as the Steers bested Brownwood.
Orlando Haymon was the best running back in 3A Region I District 5 this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 153 yards as Vernon topped the Lions. Danny Valverde also contributed to the rushing game with 149 yards on the ground.
He was 20-29 with 0 interceptions.
The Steers' Davis and Reeves have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Davis has thrown for 675 yards this season, while Reeves has 14 catches for 341 yards. Haymon from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 428 yards.
Hirschi took down the Rams 68-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Terrance Cooper threw for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 129 yards during the win.
