Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Rockhurst

Rockhurst proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 21) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines, sneaking past 68-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawklets have posted since March 2, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockhurst to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callen Eskew, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cohen Robinson, who earned 14 points.

Belen Jesuit's loss came despite strong showings from Alec Arnholt and Orlando Roche. Arnholt went 8 for 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Roche put up 24 points. The dominant performance gave Roche a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javi Vasseur, who had four points and three steals.

The win (which was Rockhurst's seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Belen Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Rockhurst wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-33 victory against Jesuit on the 28th. As for Belen Jesuit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-26 win against Willow on the 28th.
