Basketball Game Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Hobgood Charter Raiders

The Mattamuskeet Lakers will take on the Hobgood Charter Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Mattamuskeet came up short against Southside and fell 45-37.

Meanwhile, Hobgood Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to Northside - Pinetown at home by a 65-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Panthers are ranked 262nd).

Mattamuskeet will have to contain Hudson Roberson as he made an impact in Hobgood Charter's last game. He went 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Tutor, who posted five points and five steals.

Hobgood Charter's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mattamuskeet, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Mattamuskeet came up short against Hobgood Charter when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 49-44. Can Mattamuskeet avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
