Basketball Recap: Sterling Beats Cesar E. Chavez for Their Second Straight Victory

Sterling won the last time they faced Cesar E. Chavez, and Destiny Lewis did her part to make sure it happened again. The Sterling Raiders blew past the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos, posting a 66-32 victory thanks in part to Lewis, who went 13 of 20 on her way to 36 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Morrow, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Morrow is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The win made it two in a row for Sterling and bumps their season record up to 8-11. As for Cesar E. Chavez, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Sterling and Washington will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Cesar E. Chavez, they will challenge Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
