Softball Preview: Beloit Memorial Purple Knights vs. Union Grove Broncos

The Beloit Memorial Purple Knights will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Union Grove Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Beloit Memorial will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Beloit Memorial is headed into the match fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Delavan-Darien a 20-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Chesney Bishop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Bishop was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Beloit Memorial got a massive performance out of Allie Gustafson, who went 1-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Jasmine Smith was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Union Grove was able to grind out a solid victory over Kewaskum on Saturday, taking the game 8-4. Union Grove has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Union Grove also got a great performance from Addy Callewaert as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Callewaert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashley Bert was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Natalie Schultz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Beloit Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Union Grove, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.
