Grant Doeringer leads a balanced attack to beat HEARTS for Jesus Christ

Recap: Christian Community Warriors vs. HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians

Even though the Christian Community Warriors have not done well against the HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Christian Community narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past HEARTS for Jesus Christ 55-52. This was payback for Christian Community, who suffered a 49-41 loss the last time these two teams met.

Christian Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grant Doeringer led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Doeringer has scored at least 25% of Christian Community's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Miller, who scored 19 points.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Stack, who scored nine points along with five steals. Josh Elsesser was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Christian Community pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Christian Community will take on Bloomfield Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bloomfield Christian School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for HEARTS for Jesus Christ, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
