Softball Recap: George Washington Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

George Washington proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Nueva Esperanza 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with Nueva Esperanza: they've now won three in a row.

Riley Devlin was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

Devlin wasn't the only one making solid contact: George Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

George Washington pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Nueva Esperanza, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George Washington will host Franklin Towne at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Nueva Esperanza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Abraham Lincoln at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Railsplitters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something Nueva Esperanza will no doubt try to take advantage of.
