Gianna Charlton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adelaide Foster, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Katelyn Charlton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cedar Park Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Klahowya walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Connell on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but Klahowya sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Klahowya got a massive performance out of Shyanne Kilmer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Landyn Watson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Klahowya's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Park Christian, their record now sits at 18-4.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Park Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Klahowya struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cedar Park Christian couldn't quite get it done against Klahowya in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 12-8. Can Cedar Park Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
