Softball Recap: Alexander Extends Winning Streak to 13

Alexander had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lithia Springs Lions an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 16 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Erin Vineyard made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vineyard was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine contests.

In other batting news, Alexis May was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Townsend, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Alexander was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Alexander's record is now 22-2. As for Lithia Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Alexander will square off against Westlake at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lithia Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
