Basketball Recap: Mikayla Wiggins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Apopka over Eustis

Apopka lost against Eustis back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Apopka Blue Darters fell 40-29 to the Eustis Panthers.

Apopka's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Wiggins, who posted eight points and six steals. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabela Hart, who earned seven points and three steals.

Apopka dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Eustis, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Apopka didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-24 win against Osceola on the 14th. As for Eustis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-28 victory against Windermere on the 13th.
