Softball Game Preview: Pickens Blue Flame vs. Seneca Bobcats

Pickens hasn't had much luck against Seneca recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blue Flame will head out on the road to face off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Pickens is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Monday, Pickens got the win against Daniel by a conclusive 9-3.

Sophie Duzan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Bolding, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ava Belle Lawton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Seneca was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They fell just short of Greer by a score of 2-1. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Pickens pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Seneca, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Pickens came out on top in a nail-biter against Seneca when the teams last played on April 4th, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Flame since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
