Basketball Recap: Creek Valley Starts Season with Win Against Wauneta-Palisade

Creek Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos with points to spare, taking the game 57-43. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Storm as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Lane Brenneman went supernova for Creek Valley, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 11 boards. The game was Brenneman's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Mason Timm was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Wauneta-Palisade had strong showings from Nathan Blackman, who posted five points along with five assists and four steals, and Aden Acton, who had 11 points.

Wauneta-Palisade dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Creek Valley and Wauneta-Palisade will both be playing Dundy County-Stratton the next time they take the court. Creek Valley will host Dundy County-Stratton at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Wauneta-Palisade will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
