Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Falls Tigers vs. Hempstead Mustangs

The Cedar Falls Tigers will face off against the Hempstead Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Cedar Falls' favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Hempstead has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Cedar Falls made easy work of Wahlert and carried off an 81-59 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hempstead came up short against Waterloo West on Tuesday and fell 72-65. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Wahawks are ranked 41st).

Hempstead's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Cedar Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Everything came up roses for Cedar Falls against Hempstead in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 86-39 win. In that contest, Cedar Falls amassed a halftime lead of 49-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
