Baseball Game Preview: Corona Panthers vs. Roosevelt Mustangs

For the second straight game, Corona will face off against Roosevelt. The Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Corona has five straight wins, Roosevelt has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Corona's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Roosevelt 8-0. Considering the Panthers have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Jason Gerfers's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Billy Carlson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Anthony Murphy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Corona pushed their record up to 24-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
