Volleyball Recap: St. John's Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Bishop McNamara last Thursday, St. John came back down to earth. The Cadets came up short against the Paul VI Panthers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

While St. John's ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-17, 25-21.

Morgan Reeves paced St. John's offense, picking up 11 kills. Reeves got some help from Wynn Eaton and her 17 assists. Gabrielle Deutz and Alexandra Potter kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

St. John's defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Paul VI, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John's will host St. Mary's Ryken at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Paul VI, they will be playing at home against The Academy of the Holy Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
