Softball Recap: Decatur Central Comes Up Short

Noblesville hit Decatur Central with a six-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks lost 14-4 to the Millers. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Millers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ashyr Lawson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlow Estes, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Decatur Central and nudges their season record down to 6-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 15-1 Plainfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.5% over those games). As for Noblesville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Coming up, Decatur Central will challenge Lafayette Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bronchos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.08 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Noblesville, they will take on Plainfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Quakers will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Millers surely won't give up without a fight.
