Basketball Game Preview: Caney Creek Panthers vs. Willis Wildkats

Caney Creek is 1-9 against Willis since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will head out to take on the Wildkats at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Willis will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Caney Creek extended their winning streak to three on Monday. Caney Creek blew past Kingwood Park 60-35. With that victory, Caney Creek brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.

Yeiry Zamudio continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Javadian, who posted six points and five boards.

Caney Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Willis over Pasadena in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wildkats blew the Eagles out of the water with a 55-13 final score. The Wildkats pushed the score to 42-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had no chance of recovering from.

Caney Creek's record now sits at 6-3. As for Willis, their record is now 2-6.

Everything went Caney Creek's way against Willis in their previous meeting back in January, as Caney Creek made off with a 54-32 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wildkats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
