Baseball Game Preview: Patton Panthers vs. Brevard Blue Devils

Patton hasn't had much luck against Brevard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Patton will be playing at home against Brevard at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Patton has four straight victories, Brevard has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Patton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Brevard with a sharp 12-6 win on Tuesday. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cohen Christian was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Christian was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Patton got a massive performance out of Laine Barrier, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Barrier a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Attaway, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Patton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Brevard's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Patton, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.
