Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Eagles vs. Hanover Area Hawkeyes

The Mountain View Eagles will take on the Hanover Area Hawkeyes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Mountain View's win against Lackawanna Trail wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Lions on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.

Josh Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanover Area). They put the hurt on MMI Preparatory School with a sharp 16-6 victory on Friday. Considering the Hawkeyes have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Conor Richardson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryan Bennett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hanover Area's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
