Softball Recap: Hug Hawks vs. Sparks Railroaders
Hug lost against Sparks back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hawks fell 8-5 to the Railroaders.
Victoria Oppmann made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alessandra Barrientos, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Hug's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sparks, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hug will host Truckee at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.67 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sparks, they will take on South Tahoe at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Railroaders will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
