Basketball Preview: Tellico Plains Bears vs. Sweetwater Wildcats
Tellico Plains is 1-9 against the Wildcats since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tellico Plains Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sweetwater Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Tellico Plains knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Wildcats like a good challenge.
Even though Tellico Plains has not done well against the Wildcats recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tellico Plains secured a 71-67 W over the Wildcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Tellico Plains has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Sweetwater, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Tellico Plains didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Wildcats in their previous meeting on Friday, but they still walked away with a 71-67 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sweetwater's Chris Alford, who shot 5-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds.
