Soccer Game Preview: Union County vs. Greer Middle College

The Union County Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Greer Middle College Blazers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Union County has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Greer Middle College will arrive with eight straight victories.

Union County fell victim to Chapman and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, Greer Middle College kept a clean sheet against Broome on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Centurions by a score of 2-0. Given Greer Middle College's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Broome are ranked 150th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greer Middle College's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those six matches. As for Union County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8-1.

Union County might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Greer Middle College in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
