Basketball Recap: American History Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Shamiyah Mubarak and Erica Lawson

On Tuesday, the American History Eagles came up short against the Union Farmers and fell 47-34. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erica Lawson and Shamiyah Mubarak certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lawson posted 16 points and four steals, while Mubarak scored nine points and five steals. Lawson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Sanayah Zeno was another key player, putting up three points and four steals.

Even though they lost, American History smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

American History's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Union, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American History will face off against Weehawken at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Union, they will challenge Kent Place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
