Baseball Recap: Western Brown Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Western Brown had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Reading Blue Devils.

Aiden Hatter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Western Brown is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Carter Saylor and Montana Wells did most of the damage at the plate: Saylor went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Wells went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Wells a new career-high. Zander Hamilton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Western Brown's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Reading, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Western Brown will challenge Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Reading, they will square off against Wyoming at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
