Soccer Game Preview: East Surry vs. Mount Airy

East Surry is 0-10 against Mount Airy since February of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Cardinals will face off against the Granite Bears at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for East Surry's offense. They came up short against Surry Central on Wednesday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, East Surry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Surry Central are ranked 194th).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Mount Airy was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Surry Central could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Mount Airy's draw gives them a new season record of 13-4-1. As for East Surry, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15-3.

East Surry suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Mount Airy when the teams last played on October 8th. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
