Baseball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for St. Francis's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nichols Vikings on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Red Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

St. Francis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Panzarella, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Aidan Curran also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

St. Francis' defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Nichols, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Looking ahead, St. Francis will take on Cathedral Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will need to watch out since the Ramblers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Nichols, they will square off against St. Mary's at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.2, the Lancers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
