Basketball Recap: Ruby Murrell and Jade Meade Secure Win for Martinsville

There's no place like home for Martinsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves 38-20 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Artesians also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Martinsville was led to victory by Jade Meade and Ruby Murrell. Meade went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Murrell posted four points in addition to six steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Meade a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Brynlee Hamblin, who put up four points.

Despite the loss, Terre Haute South Vigo had strong showings from Samarra Newburn, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and four steals, and Avery Cassell, who earned five points. Newburn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played.

Martinsville's record now sits at 4-12. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.
