Basketball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

Franklin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 71-60 to the Commerce Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-69 last Thursday.

Commerce got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ty Sorrells out in front who went 8-for-9 en route to 21 points. Thanks to that strong game, Sorrells now owns an excellent 40.6% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Bryson Parks, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 16 points and six boards.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Commerce, their record is now 6-2.

Franklin County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-46 win against Daniel on the 13th. As for Commerce, they will be home for the holidays to greet Banks County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will be up against the Leopards' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
