Football Recap: Gulf Breeze Dolphins vs. Pensacola Tigers
Gulf Breeze was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 50-25 to the Pensacola Tigers. The Dolphins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Defeat or not, Gulf Breeze got some senior leadership from Jake Hooten and Brock Stomps. Hooten picked up 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Stomps threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Hooten really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Gulf Breeze also got a significant boost from Ethan Crandall, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
Ag Floyd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pensacola, rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Floyd has posted since back in September. Jamarcuz Fountain was another key player, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Gulf Breeze's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Pensacola, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-5.
