Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Elk Lake's Winning Streak

Elk Lake dropped their record down to 13-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 13-game streak of wins. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Redeemer Royals. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Royals when the teams met back in May of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Holy Redeemer, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Holy Redeemer's part, Anne Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Carter has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mary Lombardi, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Zoe Pecuch was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As of now, neither Elk Lake nor Holy Redeemer have any future games scheduled.
