Softball Recap: Ramona Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Ramona, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Canyon Springs Cougars with a sharp 9-0 victory on Friday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kaytlin Stephens made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ramona got a big performance out of Emily Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Gonzalez a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Kylie Guzman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

The win got Ramona back to even at 4-4. As for Canyon Springs, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Ramona is taking a road trip to face off against Arlington at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Ramona 3.4, Arlington 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Canyon Springs, they will host Patriot at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
