Baseball Recap: Gilmer County Gets the Win

Gilmer County was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wirt County on Friday. The Titans never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Titans have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kolten Holbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Stewart, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Remington Huffman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Gilmer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gilmer County's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Wirt County, they moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
