Volleyball Recap: Great Bend's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Great Bend was the 2-0 winner over Hutchinson when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salthawks on Thursday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Great Bend was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13.

Alex Mayers paced Great Bend's offense, picking up eight kills. Mayers got some help from Kya Behr and her ten assists. Meredith Mazouch controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Great Bend's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Hutchinson, their victory ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 11-7.

Looking ahead, Great Bend will face off against Washburn Rural at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hutchinson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Goddard on the 25th.
