The Del Sol Dragons will head out on the road to square off against The Meadows School Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Del Sol took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Valley 17-2.
Kaitlyn Chairsell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Chairsell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Breanna Figueroa was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Adaya Lash was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, The Meadows School posted their closest win since March 6, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Indian Springs, sneaking past 13-11. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Like Del Sol, The Meadows School also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Howard. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Howard gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, The Meadows School got a massive performance out of Kate Verdirame, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Verdirame a new career-high in triples (two). Courtney Fonte also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
The Meadows School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Del Sol now has a winning record of 2-1. As for The Meadows School, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Del Sol took their win against The Meadows School in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 21-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Sol since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
