Markelle Massenburg commands the offense for a Rams win

Recap: Franklinton Rams vs. Franklin Academy Patriots

The Franklinton Rams won the last time they faced the Franklin Academy Patriots, and things went their way on Saturday too. Franklinton took down Franklin Academy 70-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Franklinton.

Franklinton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Markelle Massenburg out in front who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Massenburg has scored at least 25% of Franklinton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Hemphill, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Franklin Academy saw an underclassman step up: Hayes Lewis scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Lewis' tenth in a row with at least ten points. Jaden Lewis was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Franklinton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Franklin Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklinton will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bunn at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Bunn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. Franklin Academy and Neuse Charter will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Neuse Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 200 points over their last three matches.
